The High Cost of Film

My husband just paid $125 to have a 3 gallon container of used fixer picked up from his office. $30 to buy, $125 to have hauled away. Another reason (let's not even go into OSHA) he switched to digital x-rays. If you have a darkroom please don't tell me you just dump it down the drain.

  1. hi,
i teach at a university in the south east of england. we currently maintain both bw and colour darkrooms (film and paper). as you say, the price of disposing of the chemistry is far higher than purchasing it in the first place.
the cost of disposing of the chemical waste is the single biggest threat to our ability to maintain these facilities going forward.
